You’ve chosen MCU because you want to save money, and we want to help you achieve that goal.
To help you out, here are a few actions you can take to avoid unwanted service fees on your account.
Avoid overdraft fees
Maintain the minimum balance required in your account. If you’re unsure of
the minimum balance, check MCU’s Terms and Conditions, or call us.
Are you in the right checking account? There may be a better choice for your financial situation.
Regularly balance your checkbook using MCU Online Banking and/or 24-hour
Phone Access.
Immediately subtract any ATM withdrawal, debit purchase or other electronic
deduction from your check register.
Avoid ATM fees
Use surcharge-free ATMs – find one near you with MCU’s Surcharge-free ATM
locator.
Use your debit card to make purchases rather than going to an ATM
numerous times to withdraw cash.
Use the “Cash Back” option when making a purchase at a point-of-sale
register.
Avoid late fees
Set up recurring payment transfers to your loan in MCU Online Banking.
If you mail your payment, allow plenty of time for payments to reach MCU, and
make sure there is enough postage on your envelope.
Use eAlerts
eAlerts will send account messages direct to your email or wireless phone. Consistent and frequent notification on account activity can help you guard against unwanted fees, as well as identity theft. Sign up in MCU Online Banking (under the MCU Services tab) and we’ll email you about the activity on your account. eAlerts that you can choose from include:- Low balance alerts
- Debit card transaction
- NSF activity
- Loan payment reminder
- Direct deposit notification
